          Conferences and CPE Credits

1. Since my earlier communication to you, Delhi and Bangalore Chapters have held very successful Annual conferences. I am glad to inform you that we have completed our dialogue with IIA Inc. to be able to award CPE credits for IIA-India seminars and conferences. Each of the Chapters will now award CPE credits to CIA members registered with them. There are some requirements for records of participants to be kept. These details will be available from the Secretariats of the Chapter or from the Secretary IIA India. Those CIA colleagues who attended the recent Annual conferences in Delhi and Bangalore, should also be able to get CPE credits for their participation in these conferences, held in August 2008.

National Conference 2009

2. The annual National IIA-India Conference will be held in Bangalore, on February 6th and 7th, 2009. We are targeting a record participation this year for the mega-event, so please book your attendance well in advance.

“A 1000 + Value Adds from Internal Audit”

3. Contributions for our proposed publication, “A 1000 + Value Adds from Internal Audit”, have started to flow in. Attached with this communication are three samples of contributions(Sample#1 , Sample#2, Sample#3) which have been received from members. I have been very pleasantly surprised by the range of contributions that are flowing in, as well as to note the tremendous contributions which our fellow professionals make to the success of business enterprises. This publication will be an emphatic statement from IIA India, of the value creations through Internal Audit, in the areas of governance, risk management, control effectiveness, compliance management and effectiveness & efficiency of operations of an organisation.

4. I look forward to your contributions. Once again I urge all of you to contribute to this landmark project with atleast 10 to 15 examples of value creations from your career in Internal Audit. These contributions should to be sent to the following email addresses :

Quality Training Services

5. Bombay Chapter and Calcutta Chapter will be conducting the “Internal Audit Quality Assessment – Performing the Review”, course in December 2008. The Bombay course will be held from December 8th to 10th and Calcutta will host the course from December 11th to 13th. Participants in these courses are restricted to 25 each, so please book early. As you all know, to comply with the IIA Standards, all Internal Audit functions are required to have an external assessment of their quality. This course will prepare members to do such an assessment.

6. The course will be conducted by an Instructor from IIA Inc. Since this is a certification course, there will be a test at the end of the course. I strongly urge members to undergo this training program as it will expose them to be best in class methodologies, in Internal Audit.

IIA India Website

7. We are currently working on the IIA India website to provide you two additional facilities. We are going to provide corporate and other entities the facility to post their requirements for Internal Audit professionals free of cost, on the IIA India website. Members will have the advantage of progressing their careers through opportunities presented on the IIA India website.

8. Soon, the website will also host an expert panel to which you can post your Internal Audit queries and dilemmas. The expert panel would reply in their personal capacities. Details of this expert panel are currently being worked out and this should be in place by December 2008.
