The Madras Chapter was inaugurated on February 22, 1977 by Dr .Easo John, the then Managing Director, Madras Fertilizers Limited.

The Madras Chapter has made a significant contribution to the growth of the Internal Auditing profession in this part of the country. The Chapter has been organizing Training Workshops, Seminars and Conferences. It also brings out a Chapter Journal "Audit Focus". The Chapter also organizes the CIA examination administered by the IIA headquarters.
